Stadium Way Arterial Improvement Project open house Aug. 29

You’re invited to an open house to discuss the Stadium Way Arterial Improvement Project. The open house is scheduled for Weds., Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the first floor of the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St.
Representatives of the City and the contractor, Ceccanti, Inc., will be present to answer your questions and to talk about the transition from Phase I to Phase II. The project is currently in Phase I, which includes work around Stadium High School and on Commerce Street. During this phase, North 1st Street and North ‘E’ Street is closed to traffic and Commerce Street has one southbound lane open.

The Stadium High School area of the project remains on schedule and will open to traffic in early September, or sooner. Progress on Commerce Street, however, has been slower than anticipated due to unforeseen conditions encountered below the roadway. Therefore, the opening of two-way traffic on Commerce Street will be shifted from mid-September to early October.

In an effort to meet the overall project end date, Phase II work on the main portion of Stadium Way may begin in September with lane reductions (instead of a full closure), until early October when Commerce can be fully opened.
