Public invited to view station platform and maintenance facility designs; materials also available online
Sound Transit will hold an open house Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Evergreen State College, 1210 6th Avenue, Tacoma. During the event, members of the public will have the opportunity to review final designs for station platforms and the expanded operations and maintenance facility, learn about station naming, and meet the local artist for the project. Individuals unable to attend the meeting can participate online at tacomalinkopenhouse.org.
At the open house, staff will also share information about what to expect during construction, next steps for the project leading up to construction, and partner agency projects along the corridor.
The Tacoma Link Extension approved by voters in the Sound Transit 2 ballot measure will extend Tacoma’s light rail line 2.4 miles from the Theater District through the Stadium Way and Hilltop neighborhoods to Martin Luther King Jr. Way and South 18th Street. The project will include six new stations and one relocated station, five new vehicles, and an expanded Operations and Maintenance facility on East 25th Street. Design of the project is nearly complete, with construction scheduled to begin fall 2018.
More information about the project is available at soundtransit.org/tacomalinkextension.
