Some Lakewood Towne Center stores to open soon

Shoppers won’t have to wait much longer to spend their money at some of the new stores that are part of the Lakewood Towne Center, formerly known as The Lakewood Mall.

Although the Lakewood Towne Center’s official opening is still a little over two months away, several of the new retailers that are part of the redeveloped mall will be open much sooner, some as early as next month, according to Dave Moore, senior vice president of MBK Northwest, the Oregon-based company that owns the Lakewood Towne Center.

Store opening dates announced so far include: Old Navy, June 14; Bed, Bath & Beyond, June 24; Ross, before July 1; and GI Joe’s and Michael’s, the last week of July.

MBK Northwest bought the Lakewood Mall from Wells Fargo last summer, with the intention of turning the enclosed mall into a vibrant, mixed-use retail and entertainment center.

The smaller, revamped property was renamed Lakewood Towne Center.

In addition to the new shopping centers currently under construction, the Lakewood Towne Center also includes the new Lakewood City Hall, and a 62,000-square foot Safeway grocery store.

The grand opening of the Lakewood Towne Center is set for the weekend of August 2-4, Moore said.
