In 200, the Tacoma Housing Authority (THA) received a $35 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to completely redevelop the Salishan public housing community, 1724 East 44th St.
During the week of Feb. 24, THA and its development partner and architects will be at Salishan for a three and a half day design workshop to discuss the planning and design options.
Each day the workshops will be open for drop-ins visits by the public. A schedule for the whole week will be available at the first meeting.
At the end of each day, the architectural team will present the days work and be available to answer questions and take input from the residents and interested stakeholders.
The schedule for these public meetings is:
Monday, Feb. 24, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Introduction to design workshops, opening discussion of Master Planning options.
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Community design, housing types.
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Drop-in time to review progress.
Thursday, Feb. 27, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Summary of workshops.
