“Ron Hazelton’s HouseCalls, is seeking applications by Tacoma-Pierce County homeowners to appear on the television show and get help in solving a home repair or remodeling project.Hazelton’s HouseCalls television show, aired locally on KOMO TV Channel 4, takes him across the country helping people with their home improvements. He also can be found on Good Morning America as the show’s home improvement editor.Prior to HouseCalls, Hazelton was known for years of working with homeowners at The House Doctor. Broadening that concept as a workshop on wheels, he has taken his home improvement show on the road and will be visiting the Tacoma-Pierce County area.Hazelton left a career as a marketing executive to return to his roots as the son of a building contractor and improve his woodworking skills. He became recognized as a master craftsman and cabinetmaker, which led to the founding of his antique restoration workshop in 1978. The shop restored over 17,000 pieces of furniture during his tenure there.The House Doctor was Hazelton’s first television show. He made over 600 televised house calls for the show, which can still be seen on Home and Garden Television several times weekly in the U.S. and Canada.In addition to HouseCalls and Good Morning America, Hazelton has reported on topics related to home improvement, such as maintenance, repair, health and safety. He has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Discovery Channel’s Popular Mechanics and Lifetime Television’s Our Home.
