Puget Sound Regional Council: Pierce Transit vanpools, Tacoma LINK light rail expansion could receive $481K

The Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) is encouraging people to comment on a recommendation to provide $481,000 of PSRC funding to two projects in Pierce County.

The first project would direct $208,775 toward Pierce Transit’s effort to replace aging vanpool vehicles.

The second project would direct $272,281 toward preliminary engineering work related to Sound Transit’s Tacoma LINK light rail expansion.

These funds are available as the result of higher than estimated allocations of PSRC’s federal funds. The public comment period will run until Thurs., Dec. 6, when PSRC’s Executive Board is scheduled to make a decision on the funding for these projects.

PSRC develops policies and coordinates decisions about regional growth, transportation and economic development planning within King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties. The Council is composed of over 80 entities, including all four counties, cities and towns, ports, state and local transportation agencies and tribal governments within the region. PSRC is also the lead regional economic development planning resource and home to the Prosperity Partnership.
