The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on June 20 at 5 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, 747 Market Street, on the draft code amendments concerning special needs housing facilities. The draft code amendments are designed to address the issues raised in three appeals of the Citys special needs housing regulations adopted in October 2006 and to bring those appeals to conclusion. The draft amendments would eliminate the existing definition and provisions for “permanent supportive housing,” reduce the parking requirements for special needs housing, provide additional variance criteria for the parking requirements, and add “residential chemical dependency treatment facility” as a new use. The hearing is intended to assist the commission in evaluating the draft amendments and formulating its findings and recommendations for submittal to the Council.
