The Port of Tacoma recently selected Derrick Urquhart as Manager of Industrial Real Estate. In this position, Urquhart manages the Port’s portfolio of industrial properties, including the Frederickson Industrial Area.

Urquhart had been working for the Port in a temporary capacity as Manager of Industrial Development since January 2005. Before joining the Port, he was Associate Vice President of Schuler Properties (Tacoma).

“Derrick brings to the Port and our customers solid real estate experience, particularly in the areas of sales, acquisitions and industrial leasing,” said Bob Emerson, the Port’s Senior Director of Industrial Development and Real Estate.

A Tacoma native, Urquhart earned his Associates degree from Green River Community College (1993) and attended the San Diego Golf Academy (1997). He taught and played as a Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) professional at several local golf courses. He is currently working toward completion of a business degree from the University of Washington-Tacoma.
