Port of Tacoma Commission to consider property transfer, habitat strategy

The Port of Tacoma Commission is scheduled this week to consider amending a 2008 purchase and sale agreement with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. The original agreement included transferring three Port properties to the Tribe to improve the footprint of a future Tribe terminal and future Port developments. This amendment revises the value of those properties based on new survey data and authorizes the property transactions to close by Weds., Oct. 31.

Commissioners will also consider adopting a Port-wide habitat strategy. The strategy takes a comprehensive approach to determine where and when to build habitat mitigation sites, and it also informs the Port’s land use and public access planning efforts.

The commission will discuss these issues during its meeting on Thurs., Oct. 18, at 12 p.m. in Room 104 of The Fabulich Center, 3600 Port of Tacoma Road. A copy of the agenda is available online here. Meetings are available live and on demand here.
