Pierce Transit considers fare increase

The public is invited to attend a meeting of the Pierce Transit Board of Commissioners Sept. 8 to comment on a proposed fare revision that would be implemented in January.

The proposed fare would not impact local service fares for senior/disabled and youth riders, or Shuttle riders.

The proposed fares are as follows:

Local Adult Cash Fare
Proposed — $1.75
Current — $1.50

Local Adult Monthly Pass
Proposed — $63.00
Current — $54.00

Local Adult Tickets
Proposed — 11 tickets / $17.50
Current — 11 tickets $15.00

Adult Weekend All Day Pass
Proposed — $3.50
Current — $3.00

Olympia Express Adult Cash Fare
Proposed — $2.50
Current — $2.00

Olympia Express Adult Monthly Pass
Proposed — $90.00
Current — $72.00

Olympia Express Senior/Disabled Cash Fare
Proposed — $1.25
Current — $1.00

Olympia Express Senior/Disabled Pass
Proposed — $45.00
Current — $36.00

The last fare increase for Pierce Transit local routes was in March 2006, the Olympia Express fare has not changed since 1999.

The meeting will occur at 4:00 p.m. in the Rainier Room of Pierce Transit’s Lakewood Training Center, located at 3721 96th St. SW.
