Pierce County, Washington State populations rise

Pierce County’s official 2007 population reached 790,500, a jump of 17,000 people from last year, according information released today by the state Office of Financial Management. The unincorporated population increased to 365,910 (from 355,089), and the incorporated population increased to 424,590 (from 418,411).

Population totals of the 24 cities and towns in Pierce County are as follows: Auburn 6,170 (+44,030 in King County); Bonney Lake, 15,740; Buckley, 4,555; Carbonado, 655; DuPont, 7,045; Eatonville, 2,380; Edgewood, 9,560; Enumclaw, 0 (+11,320 in King County); Fife, 7,180; Fircrest, 6,270; Gig Harbor, 6,280; Lakewood, 58,950; Milton 5,695 (+825 in King County); Orting, 5,940; Pacific, 110 (+5,945 in King County); Puyallup, 36,790; Roy, 870; Ruston, 750; South Prairie, 440; Steilacoom, 6,220; Sumner, 9,035; Tacoma, 201,700; University Place, 31,300; Wilkeson, 455.

Washington State’s 2007 population is 6,488,000, up from 6,375,600 last year. The state’s unincorporated population is 2,513,805 (from 2,473,714), and the incorporated population is 3,974,195 (from 3,901,886).
