The annual Pierce County Volunteer Recognition Brunch will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on May 11 at the Tacoma Sheraton (1320 Broadway Plaza). Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg and Council Chair Harold Moss will serve as masters of ceremonies.
This event is held to honor the many volunteers who give of their time and talents on Pierce Countys behalf. The Volunteer Recognition Brunch typically draws a crowd of 400 or more each year.
This years Volunteers of the Year are Ardith DeRaad from the Pierce County Commission Against Domestic Violence and Judi Holley from the Sheriff’s Department. The 2002 Volunteer Group of the Year is the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. Outstanding Volunteer awards will be presented to 55 adults and 4 youths. Five groups will receive Outstanding Volunteer Group awards.
Additionally, two long term achievement awards will be presented to Bernadine Young and posthumously to Esther Pogorelc.
Reservations can be made by calling Remann Hall at 253-798-7900 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Reservations are required and must be made prior to April 30.
