Action on Ordinances
Proposal No. 2004-20, authorizing the approval of applications for open space classification under current use assessment on certain properties located within the unincorporated boundaries of Pierce County; and adopting findings of fact. (Application No. OS2-03, Robert L. Berg – Orting area; Application No. OS4-03, Kimberly Powell – Eatonville area; and application
No. OS6-03, Nick and Joleen Reynolds – Wauna area)

Proposal No. 2004-29, adopting a new Section 3.76.045 of the Pierce County Code, “Active Duty Differential Payment,” providing for differently pay and continuation of health care benefits for county employees called to active federal service.

Messages from the Executive
A message from the Executive transmitting the following Ordinances, which were approved and signed on April 14, 2004:

Ordinance No. 2004-19, declaring certain county-owned real estate property located at 5501 6th Avenue in Tacoma, Washington, as surplus; and authorizing the County Executive to pursue disposal of the property by sale pursuant to Pierce County Code Chapter 2.110.

Ordinance No. 2003-142s, granting nonexclusive franchise to the City of Tacoma, Department of Public Utilities, Light Division, doing business as Tacoma Power, of Pierce County, for location of electric lines on certain rights-of-way; and authorizing the County Executive to execute said franchise.

Ordinances
Proposal No. 2004-21, ratifying the collective bargaining agreement reached with Council 2, Washington State Council of County and City Employees, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, Local 3752 – Corrections and Detention Unit; and amending the Pierce County Classification Plan.

The May 18, 2004, County Council meeting will be held in Council District No. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lakewood City Hall Council Chambers, 6000 Main Street SW, Lakewood. This meeting will be in lieu of the regular 3 p.m. meeting.

The June 22, 2004, County Council meeting has been cancelled.
