“One individual and three organizations were selected as the 1999 Margaret K. Williams Arts Award winners. The Pierce County Arts Commission will present the awards during a public ceremony at 6 p.m. November 4, in the Washington State History Museum.The awards program is aimed at recognizing individuals and organizations for exceptional support of the arts of excellence in the arts. The 1999 recipients are:- Pierce College for its Student Literary and Arts Magazine;- Shirley Tomasi, executive director of the Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula Cultural Arts Committee for establishing the CAC;- Valley Arts United for establishing Arts Downtown, Puyallup’s outdoor gallery;- The Western Washington Fair Association for producing the Puyallup Fair’s annual arts show.- Winners receive art works created by local woodcarver Jim Smith.”
