Pierce County Councilmember Bunney to receive open government award

Pierce County Councilmember Shawn Bunney will receive the “Key Award” from the Washington Coalition for Open Government (WCOG) recognizing his work on Pierce County’s open government ordinance and for driving support of HB 3292, the executive session taping bill.

WCOG represents individuals and organizations intent on preserving and protecting Washington’s open government laws, open records and open meetings.

WCOG President Toby Nixon said Bunney has worked hard to ensure the county responds to information requests from the public. “Shawn’s commitment to open government is obvious, including the forum he hosted last year to gather public input for the county’s open government ordinance.”

The award presentation will take place Tues., June 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the County Council Chambers on the 10th floor of the County/City Building, 930 Tacoma Avenue South.
