Performers wanted for MLK celebration

It's not "American Idol," but if you have talent you could appear as part of the Jan. 19 event.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration committee is searching for performers for the Jan. 19, 2004 event which will take place in the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall. The annual multicultural event is a free community event that has taken place since 1988. The celebration will air and replay numerous times on TV Tacoma.

Auditions are open to all ages and ethnic groups. The committee is looking for talent in the following areas: vocalists, dancers, recitals, groups, dramatic interpretation, instrumental and poetry readings. All performers must follow the theme “Let’s Stay Together – We Stand for His Dream.”

Auditions will take place on Oct. 25 at Clover Park Technical College, Building 31. For more information, call Ellen Smith at 253/472-2650 or Jackie Wilson at 253/581-1815.
