Pacific Northwest most wired, again

Washington and Oregon were proclaimed as the nation’s most wired region, again, by the Pew Research Center.

The Pew Internet and American Life study shows 68 percent of the region’s population was online in 2002, the highest in the country, and the highest number of users 55 and older.

But just because they are surfing doesn’t mean they are doing it for fun: Local users are most likely to use the Internet for e-mail and less for entertainment, shopping or just browsing.

Favorite local Websites are national leaders MSN.com, Yahoo, Microsoft, as well as the state’s wa.gov and nwsource.com.
