An ordinance scheduled for final reading Jan. 3 would update the street occupancy fees across the City beginning April 1. The proposed new fee schedule would increase fees to better cover the costs of administering the permit program. The Citys street occupancy fee schedule has not been updated since 1978. A substitute ordinance is expected to be introduced that would make an exception for all street occupancies within shoreline areas, including businesses along Ruston Way, from the fee increase until further studies can be completed.
