City Council approved an ordinance Jan. 3 that will update the street occupancy fees across the City beginning April 1. The new fee schedule will increase fees to better cover the costs of administering the permit program. The City’s street occupancy fee schedule had not been updated since 1978. A substitute ordinance is expected to be introduced that would make an exception for all street occupancies within shoreline areas, including businesses along Ruston Way, from the fee increase until further studies can be completed.
