City Council members heard the first reading of an ordinance March 15 that would authorize the Tacoma Power’s Click! Network to increase rates for its cable TV products and related services both inside and outside the City of Tacoma. The proposed rate increase is designed to generate more revenue for commercial telecommunication operations and to assist in recovering costs as represented in the 2005-2006 budget. Tacoma Power’s 2005-2006 budget assumes an average of a 5.3 percent rate increase for Click! Network cable TV services. The council will schedule a vote on this ordinance at a future date.
