On June 13 the City Council heard the first reading of an ordinance that would reduce the speed limit from 30 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour on South Puget Sound Avenue between South 50th to South 74th streets, which is in the South Tacoma Way Business District’s core area. If approved, the ordinance would help foster a more pedestrian-friendly environment and would be consistent with the Proctor, Stadium and Old Town Business Districts.
