Open houses planned for 2 surplus Tacoma library branch properties

The City of Tacoma will be opening the doors to prospective buyers interested in purchasing two Tacoma Public Library branches closed last year and now poised to be sold as surplus properties.

The Swan Creek Branch, located at 3828 East Portland Avenue, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Branch, located at 1902 South Cedar Street, were closed due to budget shortfalls and costs related to deferred maintenance.

The doors to the Swan Creek branch will be open for site reviews on Thurs., April 26 and Fri., April 27 between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Visitors will need to show photo identification and agree to terms of entry onto the property. The minimum bid amount is $400,000 and proposals will be received until 11 a.m. on Tues., May 22.
