A group of Tacomans following the national “Occupy Wall Street” movement announced today it will hold a peaceful march in downtown Tacoma on Fri., Oct. 7. According to the announcement posted on the group’s Facebook page, participants will meet at Fireman’s Park near A Street and South 8th Street between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. “Occupy Tacoma is not about protesting Tacoma,” wrote the organizers. “We live and work in this community and love it very much. We are expressing solidarity with the national movement and opposing the corporate takeover of American democracy.” Participants are encouraged to bring their own signs.
