New THS exhibit highlights downtown Tacoma architecture

Tacoma Historical Society, in partnership with GeoEngineers, Inc., has announced the opening of a new exhibit entitled “From Ruins to Renaissance: The Architecture of Downtown Tacoma.” The exhibit features many artifacts on loan from local architects, which were salvaged from several of Tacoma’s historic buildings – some no longer existent.

This exhibit was curated by Heather Straub. “Ms. Straub is a new resident of Tacoma who wanted to learn more about her new home, and fell in love with its history in the process,” stated Director and Exhibit Designer Mary Bowlby. “Her insights into the story are fresh and her passion for the city is clear.”

The exhibit will be on view during open hours July 1 through Jan. 2, 2010. The Exhibit Center & Gift Shop is open 12-5, Wednesday through Saturday, and is located at 747 Broadway. For more information, visit http://www.tacomahistory.org .
