Members of the City Council are scheduled to hear the first reading of an ordinance Jan. 8 that would request the Washington State Liquor Control Board to impose restrictions on sales of alcohol within the Alcohol Impact Area of the Lincoln District, which includes portions of South and East Tacoma along 38th Street. This request is based upon a report provided to the Council from the Chief of Police regarding the failure of voluntary efforts to reduce chronic public inebriation in this area.
