“By Bonnie West, Editor Motorists in downtown Tacoma will face more street disruptions as Tacoma City Water begins work relocating main water lines in preparation for the construction of the Link light rail. The work will continue for the next three months beginning Monday, Nov. 27We have to relocate our main because of where it is located relative to where the new track is going to go, said Heather Pennington, special projects engineer. We need to protect it from stray current from the light rail, and the main is not in a location that works in connection with the rail system.Work will begin at Pacific and 25th and continue through E. 25th from B toD Streets, and E. 25th from G to McKinley.Work to be done in these locations will vary: 25th through 21st Streets Intersection of 15th and Commerce Intersection of 11th and CommercePennington said Tacoma City Water plans to do as much as we can during regular working hours, but certain intersections we’ll work nights and weekends. She added that work will be held off at the intersection of 17th and Pacific until after the holidays. We will try to phase it to minimize the impact to businesses during the holiday, she said. “
