Law enforcement officers arrested 19 motorists for impaired driving on Saturday night in Fife during the monthly DUI and traffic safety emphasis patrol. Another 17 were arrested on other criminal traffic offenses, such as driving with a suspended license. Liquor Control Board agents cited two businesses in Fife for selling to minors.
This emphasis was dedicated to Courtnie Ann Kendall, 19, who was killed by an alleged drunk driver on Canyon Road in November 2000.
Law enforcement officers from Bonney Lake, Buckley, Fife, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Milton, Pacific, Puyallup, Roy, Sumner, Tacoma, University Place and Wilkeson police departments participated in this emphasis patrol. They were joined by deputies from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, troopers from the Washington State Patrol, and agents from the Washington State Liquor Control Board.
