Memorial Friday for Pierce County Deputy Wright

On Fri., March 11, the public is invited to attend the memorial service for Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Shandon Wright. The service is being held at the Champions Centre, 1819 E. 72nd St., in Tacoma. Doors will open at 11 a.m. for the 1 p.m. ceremony. There will be not be a procession, but there will be a small family motorcade to escort Wright’s family from Lipoma Firs Golf Course in Graham to the Champions Centre ( http://www.championscentre.com/ ), where they will arrive at approximately noon. A five-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department, Wright died last Thursday, less than 24 hours after undergoing shoulder surgery for an injury suffered during an on-duty assault last August. The 29-year-old deputy leaves behind his wife, Janessa, and 3-year-old daughter. The program includes remarks from Wright’s father, his best friend, and several of his colleagues, as well as Sheriff Paul Pastor and Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy.
