Citing the need for “increased accountability, transparency, and professionalism in the Assessor/Treasurer office,” former Tacoma City Councilmember and Deputy Mayor Spiro Manthou announced he will seek the Pierce County Assessor/Treasurer position this fall. The position is currently held by Dale Washam.
Manthou currently serves as general services manager for Bates Technical College in Tacoma. Previously, Manthou served on the Metro Parks Recreation Foundation and worked for the City of Tacoma Finance Department. He is also active in numerous civic organizations. Manthou was born and raised in Tacoma, graduated from Wilson High School, and attended Western Washington University. He currently lives in the West End with his wife, Sandy, and their three children.
“As your Assessor/Treasurer, Ill ensure that your property taxes are fair, and you receive the individualized attention you deserve as a home owner in Pierce County,” Manthou said in a statement released Monday morning by John Winkler of the Spiro Manthou for Pierce County Assessor/Treasurer Campaign Committee.
