KIRO-TV honors Tacoma's late Blueberry Park advocate Valbert

KIRO-TV will honor Charlotte Valbert during the station’s annual Cox Conserves banquet today. Valbert was among five finalists selected to be honored during last year’s celebration for volunteer efforts at Blueberry Park, which Park Board renamed as Charlotte’s Blueberry Park this year following her passing. KIRO management supported a staff recommendation to make a donation in the amount of $1,250 to the Greater Metro Parks Foundation this year in Valbert’s honor. When sharing the news with Metro Parks, KIRO’s community relations manager Maria Lamarca Anderson said, “A number of the station’s staff members were just really touched by meeting Charlotte and learning of her long time commitment to the park.” Valbert had named the Greater Metro Parks Foundation as the recipient to receive funding in her name if she had she been selected as the winner of the contest’s $5,000 grant award.
