Kaboom! Port contest puts smokestack demolition up for grabs

The Port is in the process of redeveloping the 96-acre site that was the location of the Kaiser plant in the Tacoma Tideflats. As part of the redevelopment project, the 500-foot stack will be demolished sometime during the last week of June or the first week of July.

You can enter a free contest for a chance to push the symbolic button that will bring down the Kaiser stack by sending an e-mail to smokestack@portoftacoma.com. Be sure to include the following information in your e-mail entry: Your name; your phone number; city where you live; and how you found out about the contest (e.g. Web site newspaper ad, etc.).

The winning entry will be chosen at random and notified by phone. If you would like additional information on the Kaiser project or the smokestack demolition, contact the Port of Tacoma at (253) 383-9461.
