Members of the City Council are scheduled March 3 to consider a resolution that would authorize an agreement with the Metropolitan Development Council, in the amount of $397,090, budgeted from the Human Rights and Human Services Special Revenue Fund, to continue the Housing First Chronic Homeless Elimination Initiative. In 2006, councilmembers identified a “Housing First” model to eliminate homeless encampments in an efficient yet humane manner. This contract with Metropolitan Development Council provides for housing and case management to implement the City’s Chronic Homeless Elimination Project from Jan. 1, 2009, to Dec. 31, 2009.
