Heller to run for City Council

Amy Heller has announced that she will run for the District 3 seat on the Tacoma City Council held by Councilwoman Bil Moss, who is not seeking re-election.

Heller is a 10-year veteran on the Tacoma Civil Service Board and a legislative assistant to Rep. Steve Conway (D-Tacoma).

She worked for 15 years at Western State Hospital just outside Steilacoom and holds a bachelor of science degree. She is a graduate of Henry Foss High School.

“The safety, health and welfare of our families is paramount. We need livable wage jobs for our parents,” Heller said. “We need street lights that work, curbs and cross walks for our children, elderly and disabled. We need leadership for our city to bring about real change for our city.”

District 3 includes the Allenmore, Bryant, DeLong Park, Hilltop, Madrona, Oakland and Sprague neighborhoods, as well as the Tacoma Mall area and portions of South Tacoma.

The primary election will take place in September.
