On Tuesday, May 7, Tacoma Goodwill will honor program participants who best exemplify the success that can be gained through the power of work. They will also recognize the local businesses that collaborate with Goodwill to provide opportunities for people to succeed.
Tacoma Goodwills Annual Awards Breakfast will be held at the Sheraton Tacoma Convention Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Dale Chihuly, world-renowned glass artist and the inspiration behind Tacoma’s Hilltop Artists in Residence, as well as the new Museum of Glass in Tacoma, will give the keynote address.
An anticipated audience of 400 will hear the inspirational stories of the individuals who overcame significant barriers to become self-sustaining citizens, and the equally inspirational stories from organizations who benefit from working with the disabled and disadvantaged in our community.
A special feature of this year’s breakfast will be a drawing for the winner of a $4,500 piece of signed Chihuly glass art, which is currently being raffled by Goodwill. A limited number of raffle tickets are available for $10 each.
The 2002 Annual Awards Breakfast is sponsored by Columbia Bank and is cosponsored by The News Tribune, Key Foundation, the Dimmer Family Foundation, Rainier Pacific Bank, Bank of America, and Clover Park Technical College. Other sponsors are Northwest Building LLC, Gordon Thomas Honeywell, Vandeberg, Johnson & Gandara, Mountain View Funeral Home, Eisenhower & Carlson PLLC and Cascade Park Vista.
The breakfast is open to the public. Tickets are $25 per person or $250 for a table of 10. To purchase tickets, call 253/284-3331.
