Gas prices in Washington reach new record high

The price of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline in Washington reached a new record high today at $2.319 per gallon, surpassing the previous record price of $2.309 set last May 29, according to a statement today by the American Automobile Association (AAA) in Washington state.

The national average of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is $2.228 per gallon. The national average continues to climb since it broke its record high last month.

According to AAA, the rise in crude oil prices, trading above $57 a barrel earlier this week, in conjunction with crude oil futures trading at record prices, have been driving up prices.
