Free urban tour this weekend

Fifteen of downtown Tacoma’s most popular new and renovated condos, town homes and apartments throw open their doors over the weekend (Oct. 11-12). The public is invited to come downtown from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and tour the homes, see the views and get a feel for the downtown Tacoma lifestyle. The self-guided tour is free and the public is encouraged to park at the Tacoma Dome Station and ride the Tacoma Link light rail into downtown.

More than 40 downtown shops and restaurants will also participate in the tour to showcase the shopping services, entertainment and cultural amenities downtown residents have at their doorstep. They are supporting the event by altering their hours for the tour and distributing tour information to mailing lists and walk-in customers. Some are also offering discounts over the weekend.
The Tacoma Economic Development Department is organizing the tour with support and cooperation from owners of the featured properties, local merchants and LandAmerica Rainier Title.

“The more people we have living downtown the more Tacoma will continue its transformation into a vibrant, 24-hour city,” said Juli Wilkerson, director of the Tacoma Economic Development Department.

Maps of the self-guided tour, including a list of participating properties and merchants, are available online at www.TacomaBIA.org/Housing.asp or www.CityofTacoma.org.
