The Tacoma office of the Department of Revenue is holding a free New Business Outreach workshop to help new and small businesses understand how to report their state taxes.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Lakewood Library, 6300 Wildaire Rd. SW, Lakewood.
Revenue staff members will explain the states excise taxes, and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about how taxes specifically apply to their businesses.
Tax reporting classifications, deductions and sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements will also be discussed.
Participants will receive a workbook which answers the most common questions asked by businesses, as well as copies of department rules and regulations.
New businesses will also have the opportunity to volunteer for tax consultation visits to ensure they are reporting properly.
