Dump truck crash in Tacoma's North End

Tacoma fire fighters were called at approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a dump truck near North 36th Street and North Lawrence Street. The first arriving engine company found a dump truck that was fully loaded with asphalt had crashed into a parked car, smashed through a concrete barrier and came to rest lodged against a large tree. The Tacoma Fire Department’s hazardous materials team and tech rescue team were called in to stabilize the scene, determine if any of the fluids from the vehicles were leaking, and prevent the truck from sliding any further. One patient was transported from the scene, and the Tacoma Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
