The Tacoma/Pierce County DUI Task Force is seeking nominees for its 2005 DUI and Traffic Safety Awards. The awards will be given to individuals or groups in 10 categories who are taking innovative approaches in reducing under-age drinking, combating DUI or promoting traffic safety.

The nomination process is open to students, parents, school and medical personnel, business owners, community and legislative leaders and police officers. It is also open to the news media, religious groups, government agencies and not-for-profit organizations that have gone beyond their normal duties to promote alcohol-free activities, traffic safety or healing following an alcohol- or drug-related crash.

Winners will be honored at a celebration event in the Steilacoom Town Hall at 6 p.m. Dec. 16. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. Nov. 1. Nomination forms can be obtained by contacting the Task Force at (253) 798-6112.
