DUI patrol dedicated to Paula Joyce

On Saturday, July 12, law enforcement officers from throughout Pierce County will be in Tacoma and Ruston for the monthly DUI and traffic safety emphasis patrol.

The patrol is dedicated to Paula Joyce, who was killed when her vehicle was struck in 1997 in Tacoma’s north end. She was on her way to work when a 21-year-old man in a stolen van ran a red light and hit her truck on the driver side, killing her instantly. The man was impaired by marijuana and other drugs and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
