Members of the City Council are scheduled Jan. 15 to consider adopting the proposed downtown parking and transit strategy recommendations developed by City Manager Eric Anderson with input gathered through the public outreach process. The resolution would authorize the development of a plan to implement the City Manager’s recommendations. The Tacoma City Center parking and mobility goal is to support a vital downtown and a citywide multi-modal transportation system; to reduce downtown automobile congestion; to assure access to parking for downtown visitors and residents; and to support the use of alternate forms of transportation. The parking and mobility strategy states the parking system must be self-supporting, flexible, comprehensive, and well integrated into a citywide multi-modal transportation system.
