Discussion of sex offender risk assessments leads study session

The City Council is scheduled Sept. 13 to hear an update from the Tacoma Police Department, the City Attorney’s office and the Washington State Department of Corrections regarding risk assessment of sexual offenders, release procedures and monitoring within the Tacoma city limits. Legal staff will also offer a review of the city of Issaquah’s recent ordinance regarding the siting of Level 2 and Level 3 sex offenders. The Council will also hear an overview of the City’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Recruitment Plan from Human Resources Department staff, as well as an update on the progress made to date on the recommendations from last year’s Personnel Management System audit. The public may attend the noon study session in Room 16, Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., but the Council will not take public comment. CityPost (Channel 85 on Click!, Channel 77 on Comcast) will air the audio portion of the session live. Replays of the study session audio may be heard Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. on CityPost (Channel 85 on Click!, Channel 77 on Comcast).
