County Boundary Review Board seeks applicants

The Pierce County Boundary Review Board announces an upcoming vacancy and requests interested parties to submit applications. The position will be filled by appointment of the Pierce County Cities and Town Association. The term begins Feb. 1 and expires Jan. 31, 2009. The five-member board composed of citizen volunteers reviews requests for annexation to cities and fire districts, incorporation of cities, extension of services (water, sewer), and formation of special purpose districts. Board meetings are held generally on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. in the Public Services Building (County Annex).

Applicants must submit a completed Application for Boards or Commissions. A resume or biography is also requested.

Copies of the application may be obtained from the Department of Planning and Land Services at the County Annex (253-798-2785 or 253-798-7156). Completed application packets should be sent to the Boundary Review Board, 2401 S. 35th Street, Room 228, Tacoma, WA 98409. The following are ineligible for BRB appointment by state statute: Elected officials of cities and counties; board members of special purpose districts; board members of port districts; city, county, or regional planning commission members; planning officials, city managers, county executives, city or county engineers, and others employed in management or policy development positions within local governments.

In addition to the cities and towns appointee, board members represent the governor, county executive and special purpose districts.
