City Council members are scheduled to hear the final reading of an ordinance Sept. 20 that would allow the City to purchase properties located at 1110, 1120 and 1124 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way for an economic development and revitalization project. If approved, the ordinance would appropriate up to $1 million of Urban Development Action Grant repayment funds for the acquisition of the properties and for appearance improvements, stabilization and preservation of the buildings. The City purchased an adjacent property at 1114 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in June. City staff is working with an investor to complete a separate sale and transfer of rights under purchase agreements for these same properties.
