City's Urban Policy Committee has two position open

livability, housing and human services issues in Tacoma, you should consider membership on the Urban Policy Committee.

The City of Tacoma has opened the application period to fill two vacancies on the committee. The deadline is Aug. 25.

Representatives must live within the city limits to serve on the 11-member committee.

The terms for the volunteer position begin in October 2003 and will expire in one year to eighteen months, depending on the position.

As a member of the Urban Policy Committee, the chosen applicant would make recommendations to the City Council regarding housing for low- to moderate-income residents through Community Development Block Grants and HOME Investment Partnership federal grants.

The committee also advises the council how to invest the city’s human services funding.

The Urban Policy Committee meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., Room 148.
If you are interested, you may pick up an application from the City Clerk, Room 238, Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., or the mayor’s office, Room 1200.

Applications must be returned to the mayor’s office by Aug 25.
