City's permit functions move to CEDD

The City announced this week that the Building and Land Use Services (BLUS) permitting functions will move from the Public Works Department into the Community and Economic Development Department (CEDD) beginning Jan. 1, 2010. The City’s Community Based Services and code enforcement functions will remain in the Public Works Department.

Staff who currently work in the BLUS Division will continue to use the same work space, but as of January they will shift to the CEDD department where long-range planning currently takes place, in an effort to streamline the process.

“The reorganization is designed to combine, better coordinate and improve our code development process and permitting services,” said Peter Huffman, who will supervise the group in Community and Economic Development. “Now the people who create land use policy and codes will work together with the people who administer land use and building codes and determine how those codes are used in our community.”
