The City of Tacoma’s Affordable Housing Policy Advisory Group will present its recommendations for affordable housing in Tacoma on Fri., Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. at the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber, 950 Pacific Ave., Suite 300. Tacoma City Council convened this group of for-profit developers, non-profit developers, planners, and architects in April 2010 to recommend policies the City should consider pertaining to the need for, and availability of, affordable housing, particularly in downtown Tacoma. The report includes 25 recommendations in eight categories, including city policy and leadership; housing incentive or inclusionary programs; regulatory assistance to developers of affordable housing; financing tools; affordable building design practices; preservation, acquisition, conversion and rehabilitation of existing housing; community development incentives; and planning and zoning tools.
