City seeks applicants for Tacoma Planning Commission

Tacoma City Council seeks to fill four volunteer positions on Tacoma’s Planning Commission. Residents living in Council District No. 1, covering parts of North and West Tacoma, or those who live anywhere in Tacoma and are able to represent development, environmental, or transportation interests are urged to apply.

Tacoma’s Planning Commission develops and updates the Comprehensive Plan and its elements; formulates effective and efficient land use and development regulations and processes that implement the Comprehensive Plan; and reviews various planning issues, such as area-wide zoning reclassifications, moratoria, interim zoning, pre-annexation planning, historic district designation, urban design, and transportation and capital facilities programs. Tacoma’s Planning Commission consists of nine members appointed by Tacoma City Council for three-year terms. Commission meetings occur the first and third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m.
