City of Tacoma REQUEST FOR BIDS Specification No. TR14-0455F Tacoma Rail Taylor Way Track Rehabilitation The City of Tacoma is accepting SEALED BIDS for the above solicitation. Submittals will be received and time stamped only at the Purchasing Division, located in the Tacoma Public Utilities Administration Building North, Main Floor, 3628 South 35th Street, Tacoma, WA 98409. Bids will be received until 11:00 a.m., Pacific Time, Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at which time they will be opened by a Purchasing representative and read aloud during a public bid opening held in Conference Room M-1, located on the main floor in the same building. A pre-bid meeting will be held at Tacoma Rail Main Conference Room 2601, SR 509 North Frontage Road, Tacoma, September 23, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. The purpose of the pre-bid meeting is to answer questions about this solicitation and any special or technical requirements, as well as the City's SBE and LEAP goals. Project Scope: This contract shall generally consist of removing and replacing approximately 2400 feet of existing track containing 90RE to 112RE rail with new 115RE rail including hardwood ties. In addition to the track replacement approximately 1200 feet of new track will be constructed with 115RE rail. The contractor will install one new #9 switch, replace three #7 switches and one #9 switch. The work includes approximately 4800 tons of #4 ballast. Work will also include the removal of four driveways and their associated driveway aprons to be replaced with 6" curbing and the replacement of five other driveways. An approximate 1200 foot rock access road will be constructed alongside the new track.
