“The City of Tacoma launched a new, easier-to-navigate Internet site at www.cityoftacoma.org, which replaces their www.ci.tacoma.wa.us as the home page for city government information. With the rollout of the new domain name, the site also unveils new click-and-go navigation tabs. From the home page, Web visitors can choose one of six top-level tabs: Home, Community, Services, Business, City Hall, and Find. The city redesigned its Internet site to update the look and create a more intuitive layout for users looking for information on the site, said Government Relations Officer Randy Lewis, who headed the Internet redesign team. At nearly 4,400 pages of content, the new site details information on topics ranging from how to license a business with the City of Tacoma, to where to find local emergency shelters. Visitors can access downloadable forms and documents such as the weekly Tacoma City Council agendas. There are also interactive features like an online form to order a smaller recycling container, or requests for plumbing or heating and cooling permits, a database of licensed child-care providers searchable by zip code, and a map-based search to pull vital data on commercial property for lease or sale. There are also links that include the Tacoma Dome and the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts. “
